Trusted by companies in healthcare, financial services, manufacturing and other industries, Standard Register manages the documents its customers can’t live without.
A leading document services provider, the company uses its 90 years of industry expertise, Lean Six Sigma methodologies and technology to help organizations increase efficiency, reduce costs, mitigate risks, grow revenue and meet the challenges of globalization. It offers consulting, technology, design, printing and staffing services to address document needs across a customer’s enterprise – from the desktop, to the data center and centralized print shop to externally-sourced printing.
For years, Standard Register has been committed to employing a diverse supplier base to provide the quality, price and service its customers need. The company works continuously to increase its minority suppliers. Part of that effort is focused on participation in local Minority Supplier Development Councils and the National Minority Supplier Development Council. These relationships allow SR to identify certified minority business enterprises (MBEs) when opportunities arise to purchase materials, services or supplies. Standard Register employees who purchase products or contract for services are encouraged to use MBEs whenever there is a fit with the requirements of the job and the offerings are competitively priced.
Standard Register’s policy is to use as many minority and women owned businesses as possible. As a member of the National Minority Supplier Development Council, the company recently participated in the council’s annual trade show to learn more about other potential companies to work with, in addition to hosting a Supplier Diversity Open house. With approximately 40 people in attendance, the event was successful in introducing both the company and the SCOMBC to local Dayton area MBEs and bringing recognition to Standard Register’s Supplier Diversity Program.
The relationships between Standard Register and minority vendors accepted into the Supplier Diversity Program are mutually beneficial. Standard Register currently works with over 40 certified minority and women owned suppliers on a regular basis, with a few of them targeted for special projects to grow their business. The company also works with their vendors to teach them new, more efficient ways of doing business, in some cases empowering them to negotiate better prices from their own suppliers.
The benefits garnered by Standard Register go well beyond the development of new capabilities and the ability to work with strong suppliers. Through their involvement with minority suppliers, the company plays a key role in the growth of economic activities in the communities in which both they and their customers do business.
